Day 2-3: Saboo, an area affected by climate change.

  • In the year 2010, Saboo village was hit by a massive cloud burst, which affected many lives and livelihoods in Ladakh. Cloud bursts in Ladakh are becoming frequent and scientists attribute this to climate change.

  • We will visit the village, observe the affected areas and meet the people there.

  • This will help us understand the critical areas exposed to climate change-caused disruptions, and the reinforcements needed to cope with them.

  • Saboo is home to the Black neck crane, aka Cha Thung Thung in the Ladakhi language. One can witness Himalayan Vulture, Eurasian Magpie and Golden Eagle too, so get your cameras ready.
